How do you keep guests out of your site?

I want to be able to keep guests from accessing my site. How do I do this?
admin (no pm's please)

You have not even read the frequently asked questions
DeadAssassin

I forgot I could find it there. Thanks!
How do I get to the Forum Admin in the Administration Panel?
Symon

How many times do you have to be told to use the search. ?????
Andrew(AP)

And another thing..... WHY on earth would you want guests not to access your site.

If they couldn't go on it that means no one could join.
DeadAssassin

Ohhh. Didn't know that. It is just so I can keep hackers from accessing the site.
admin (no pm's please)

Hackers cannot hack forums.
DeadAssassin

Then how did they hack my site for 3 days?
Nick(NR)

because the guess passwords, your was obviously a weak one, oh and it's not called hacking it's alternatively known as cracking as that is exactly what their doing cracking a password.
DeadAssassin

No, he hacked! It don't matter now, I screwed his computer up and got the site back.
Symon

And topic closed

NO one has hacked your forum .

No hacker would waste their time hacking such a small site.

A hacker would hack a bank or nasa.

As nick said you used a crap password and he/she guessed it.

The support forum would be useless. Hacking a forum they could gain access to all the sites linked to it.

Do i really need to answer that ?

And no more pms please or they might be removed.

biggest pile of bile ever!?!?

Hacking(lol), sorry cracking into a forum would only get them access to that one forum and that forum alone, not all those on the system.

It is always staggering how people who clearly no little or nothing of web technology manage to come out with these totally wrong ideas on hacking and are prepared to insist they are right, even if it flies in the face of all common sense

As everyone has said, when forums are compromised on myff it has ALWAYS been a weak password at fault.

We are not invulnerable, as we know the servers did get hacked a couple of weeks ago   I think in the past when we had never been hacked I was always careful to make the point that you can never be complacent about security, arrogance is always a bad idea in this area.

But when we were hit, a fundermental truth applied, they did not hit on some small forum, or even a big one, they attacked not the sites on the server at all, but the servers kernel so that it could be used for some criminal intent.
