Hi

I am having a few issues with my template, but i'll start with this one.  I have been unable to add a favicon to my site since the date it started on the 24th April and have been completely unable to get one working.  I know there are countless topics on this already here, i've read them all at least once, so I apologise for creating another one but this really is my last resort.

There seems to be slight variations of the correct code to add in and none of them have worked for me.

The code I currently have (or did have until a few moments ago) in overall_header.html is
Code:
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="http://www.talkinggeekonline.com/templates/  talkinggeek.myfreeforum.org6/images/favicon.png">

The reason I say until a few moments ago, is because I have read that you have to refresh the template, which I did and after which the code I enter disappears.

Please help I am about to start pulling my hair out.
myff admin

Put the code back into the template.

And then refresh the page in your web browser.

Thank you for the very quick reply.  I have just done that it is still showing the myff favicon.
bazfalty

mine shows the myff while in the admin panel but then goes to my own when on the forum,
myff admin

I'm seeing:

href="http://www.talkinggeekonline.com/templates/  talkinggeek.myfreeforum.org6/images/favicon.png

in the code, the space midline will break things
The Cynical Hermit

I thought that as well, but the code wont fit all on one line it moves to the next all by itself.
The Cynical Hermit

Ok I just pressed backspace and it moved to one line, I now have

Code:
<link rel="icon" type="image/png"href="http://www.talkinggeekonline.com/templates/  talkinggeek.myfreeforum.org6/images/favicon.png">

Well not exactly all on one line the whole code is still on two lines but it moved up a space.
myff admin

<link rel="icon" type="image/png"href="http://www.talkinggeekonline.com/templates/talkinggeek.myfreeforum.org6/images/favicon.png">

this time you have no space in this bit png"href it needs to be png" href
The Cynical Hermit

Ok, sorry for not replying sooner got caught up.. i've just changed it to what you suggested.  It's still not showing my favicon though, I guess it just takes  a while to show?
myff admin

now the link looks ok but:

http://www.talkinggeekonline.com/...freeforum.org6/images/favicon.png

does not appear to exist.

I have just checked a few seconds ago and favicon.png is there under image sets/image.  I have just realised that there are two upload options.  I used the first one

Quote:
Upload image to styles/talkinggeek.myfreeforum.org6/imageset

Should I have been using the 2nd option?
Quote:
Upload image to your web page /image directory

That would make more sense actually! doh!  I have just added it to the 2nd option.

As I type it's still not showing though.
myff admin

Well neither of those options goto:

http: //www.talkinggeekonline.com/talkinggeekonline.myfreeforum.org6/images/favicon.png

You would need:

http ://www.talkinggeekonline.com/talkinggeekonline.myfreeforum.org6/imageset/favicon.pngmyfreeforum.org6/imageset/favicon.png

or
http ://www.talkinggeekonline.com/images/favicon.png

the other option which is probably much easier to do is use your webpages tab and upload the favicon there, then all you'd need in between your head tags is

Code:
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="http://talkinggeekonline.com/favicon.png">

example: http://portalogy.myfastforum.org/bullet1.png
