Forum been copied...My forum: http://swapitshoplounge.myfreeforum.org/index.phpCopying forum: http://swapitshopdaily.myfreeforum.org/index.php When you look at the forum, you can see the site instantly looks like a rip off. A lot of the sections (and descriptions) have been copied and tweaked slightly. Any action would be great. Thanks. |

Yes, but every aspect of our forum has been copied.
They have the same: Karma images Profile layouts Ranks Online offline images Forum Layout Forum sections Descriptions They even tried to make their logo the same as ours. (By the way, I am an admin on swapitshop lounge) |

A pretty blatant copy site imo, even the misspellings are the same, indicating a copy n' paste.
Whether that falls foul of the ToS is Admins decision though of course. |

I'd agree it makes it debatable, but really though this just indicates a totally lame forum, sure we could slap them and get some bits changed, but that would only actually do them a favour. You have 18,000 registered users, they have 18.... unless they offer something distinctive they are doomed anyway. | ||||||

There must have been a lot of changes today, because I see very little in common between the two... some of the forum titles are the same, but descriptions are different, the style is different...
Granted you can definitely see some parts that are copied, but right now I don't think I could say the entire forum is a copy. |

we have not copied we have took inspiration from variouse similar sites Karma images - freeley avalible on howtodoit Profile layouts - how Ranks - images and rans completley different Online offline images - were avalible on the web you originally copied them Forum Layout - differnnt Forum sections - most of the swapitshop forums have the same sections Descriptions - look they are differnt to yours and if you look at the logo it is completley different also the member adam on this forum helped us and he has never seen your forum and our overall look and graphics are a lot different to yours there is severall ss site in competition so why moan about 1 more |

As people have said, even spelling mistakes were the same, and when I looked the logo was a blatant look alike as was the general style.
It was beyond the point of coincidence, and close to the point where you might simply have been shut down. |

why should even think of being shut down come into the picture i used parts of there descriptions if the dont want people to use there stuff they should get it comprighted and most of that is freeley avalible from the webi.e the karma images and i could find you several site which have the same sectiona and same rough descriptions | ||||||

You agreed to the ToS when you created your forum, if you break these Admin is well within his right to instantly suspend your forum. It's not harsh at all. Also, get some spelling lessons, your posts are almost painful to read. |

It was very similar, text had been directly copy and pasted and the images and layout had taken direct cues from SwapitShop Lounge. You'd basically created a sub-quality clone. |

Let me first point out that this is a topic for here and not PMs.
The fundamental issues here have not been addressed. We have someone who has blatantly and by their own admission copied someone else's forum. We have someone who claims to know more about copyright law than we do, and :
regards other peoples right to their work in contempt. A bad attitude even if they were right about the law which they are not. Whilst this situation is not beyond recall, it will not happen unless the issues are properly dealt with. |

All issues are dealt with in public, your sons site was a blatant copy of someone else's work, Admin has asked for him to explain this and address the issue , to which as of this time he has failed to do so. Again we deal with complaints in the open and not behind the scenes , this benefits all parties concerned . |

But as you see if you look at the email that dominic sent it explains why he did not want the rest of the sites members to see as he know a few people on the site a some pople chooses to descriminate against him due to that fact.
To save a lot of bother and upset i mysel and him and also you would probably like the issue resolved . He did not understand what he had do to to resolve the issue in question. so could you please explain what needs doind for this issue to be resolved and for it to carry on as normal |

You are the one that has made public a private conversation, so you cannot care about its contents that much.
dom.1994 plainly feels he can make assertions about the law, and also that copying peoples work is simply something he needs to rectify. If he or you cannot see the issues involved there, then there is no question of us risking him running a forum. |

I see that he should not of copied another persons work and im am willing to help you/him to put this right. I literally know nothing to do with making website but could you make a ilst of what needs putting right or changing. He does not know about the law obviously as he is only a child .he says he wrote what he wrote on an assumption and on no facts. He realises that it was wrong to plagurise others work and say he wont do this again and will change the contex of his website and apoligises for doing so in the first place. Also please could the post that i wrote with his email to the admin in be deleted as he does not want people knoeing about what is wrote in there. |

Spelling and grammar is something that should be important to anyone, nobody expects anyone to have 100% perfect spelling and grammar, but every effort should be made to type properly, it makes it a lot easier for people to understand what you're saying. If "touch typing" creates so many mistakes you may want to consider reviewing your post before you hit submit and make any corrections, or look at the keyboard as you type. |

I'm dyslexic to a degree and sadly still a poor touch typist. My posts would be chronically littered with typos so I use a spell checker to help and I proof read what I type before I hit submit.
I consider it a common courtesy to do so. When I see someone asking for help who cannot be bothered to engage in such a basic process, I do not feel sympathy for any difficulties they might have, I simply feel annoyed at how lazy they are. For a laugh having proof read to that point. I will now post my attempt at the same message without corrections. I'm dyslexcix to a frgresd and sandl stilkl a poor touch typiost , My post would be xchroiniucally littlerdd with typoes so IU use a spell checked to help and proff read what I tepe before I thi submit. I`m going to lock this now as the issues have been dealt with.
My suggestions to you are the following. 1. Change the logo so it does not look like the other forums logo 2. Change the forums sections to something not the same as the other forum. 3. Change the rank images (maybe this is not a major issue as these are used by many forums) When you make a forum on the same subject as other forums, the best way to make it successful is to make it different from the others. Copying a forum word for word will never work.
