As your site is about football, I would suggest you post a lot on other footballing forums.
It wouldn't do you much good if you advertised your site in a knitting forum y'see. Make sure you don't spam though, reply to someones post and let them know that similar topics can be discussed on your forum |

I gave you a link to howtodoit with a whole section on what you can do to improve your forum. post your forum in your sig on your msn yahoo icq in your emails etc etc |
