Firefox3I'd seriously recommend people play with the Beta, I use ff2 and ie7 and in comparison ff3 zips along.
It actually makes me reevaluate the amount the speed of a web sites servers effects things compared to the browser.
I had kind of assumed most lag was to do with the speed of web servers, but looking at the speed of say the myff forums on ff3 I realise that with halfway decent servers, the server is not the bottleneck.

using it now, does seem much quicker, my sons on his laptop aswell playing DODS , noramlly slows down IE (on the mrs comp) to a crawl, and FF2 to a trot, but this tonight is galloping along.

I have noticed a few things on this.
When you try and sign in on here the login box goes to the left and not centre.
The same with the main header on the arcade is showing left align and not centre,, only does this on beta? so a few things still need sorting.
But really is much faster.

It may be (and probably is) not firefox but slightly bad html on the forum, when I get a little time I plan to look at this, but it could be the beta at fault so I'm not making it a priority.

Look at this screen shot only happens on beta, you see the review even shoots left, so i think it is beta.

I'm running it, so I have seen it!
Since it works on other browsers it is uncertain where the issue lies.

I'll wait till release as it isn't too far away now and I doubt I'll be seeing any speed changes or memory issues as I've already slapped in the tweaks to ff2
I have read a few promising notes that v3 's got, I'm gonna wait for the surprise, should there be one

nope, I've always hated IE and once firefox came out it was like walking into heaven being offered every food item you love knowing that in heaven you'll never get fat, opera is a close second although I don't use it to browse anymore as my bookmarks are all in ff

Firefox is like a shoe that is 2 sizes too small...
It's bloody great to get shut of it once you are daft enough to allow yourself to get talked into using it.

Only people who say that has had a virus within the last 2 months. I been 7 years without a virus.
I found it to be a tad slower, but I increased firefox's 2 speed a lot.
I can almost do the same in Firefox 3. Go to the URL bar and type "about:config" (no quotes) and look for network.http.pipelining and right click toggle. What that does is when loading mutiple web sites it loads 1 first then loads another one, it on allows it to load them all at the same time, which on some computers is faster. By default it is set at 4 web pages.
From there someone like admin can tweak Firefox.

Firefox is undoubtedly somewhat safer on the malware front. But the determining factor with malware is user behavior, I don't have the stats to prove it, but a very high % of malware is socially engineered, it only gets installed as the victim takes more than one stupid step to get infected. Such exploits will effect Firefox users as well once firefox is targetted, though perhaps Firefox users are less dumb than IE users on average
The more than one steps thing is key here, the holy grail of malware is exploits that can occur without the user clicking YES, such exploits have existed and when the malware authors have got in before the fixes, they have run totally rampant

I don't see why most people are using firefox now. I downloaded firefox 2 last month and i tried using it for a few days but everything was so different comapred t IE. And sinse i've been using it for.. like.. ever, I like it much better xD
So, i uninstalled firefox. O.o

Most people arent using Firefox at all, IE is by far the number one used browser, for some reason though, people who do choose to use Firefox attempt to either convert IE users to their browser, or insinuate they are 'dumb' for not changing.
Still, let them enjoy themselves

I love firefox tbh and have never "roughed up" anyone for using anything else, that may be the web designer part of me getting in the way tho as I have to make it all cross browser, so at some point I do use a browser I don't like.

All the paranoid people are sitting back waiting for a zero day exploit to happen
Having this post reply page open and another site (running a java applet clock) FF is using about 90k worth of memory.
