Firefox 1.50

Been using this a few days now and it seems to have solved the very annoying over zealous form filling bug the old Firefox had

Could anyone be knid enough to explain the difference between firefox and I.E

As like most users on the net i use I.E why well because it was there nd we have all heard of it but what are the pros and cons on both ?
admin (no pm's please)

Firefox is faster, more standards compliant, much less hacked or hackable, has tabbed browsing, has an amazing range of extensions you can decide to add on to it.

I have:

DOM inspector
Chipmarks
Groowe search toolbar
adsense notifer
Duplicate tab
Plain old favourites
Tabbrowser preferences
Web Developer
Search Status
LastTab
Colorful tabs - may kill this one
SessionSaver

E.g. a pretty customised browsing experience.

Is it still prone to collaspse like I.E

Firefox 1.0 had bugs, it would after a time leak memory quite badly

I have yet to see a crash or a real problem with 1.5, but it is early days.

Not sure if you can avoid tracking cookies easily on any browser

It's a shame that the User Hide option for phpbb forums isn't compatible with it

did not think that was an option a such.

for those thinking of using of Firefox but are still indecided, read the following

Is Firefox more secure than Internet Explorer?

Yes, Firefox and all other Mozilla-based products are more secure. Why? Here is a list of the most important reasons:

* It is not integrated with Windows, which helps prevent viruses and hackers from causing damage if they somehow manage to compromise Firefox.
* There is no support for VBScript and ActiveX, two technologies which are the reasons for many IE security holes.
* No spyware/adware software can automatically install in Firefox just by visiting a web site.
* Firefox doesn't use Microsoft's Java VM, which has a history of more flaws than other Java VMs.
* You have complete control over cookies

Couple of the things I love about this, only downloaded yesterday so still playing.

Tabbed browsing. This is great, one browser window open with tab to all the pages you want to view. I have discovered today you can open a new tab, if you are using a wheel mouse, by putting the mouse pointer on the link and clicking the wheel. Good for moderating, I just go to all updated thread and open them in a new tab.

Multiple homepages as separate tabs. I have six or seven sites I need to go on when I get in the office. I have just set them all up as homepages, that way as soon as I open Firefox, it opens a tab for each site I have set up as homepage.

I am sure most people who use it know this, but I would have ditched IE sooner just for these options.

I have 20 tabs on the go at the moment

Yeah, I do find myself having more and more open. It was always a pain in IE having that many "windows" open. I go on to some sites main pages and open about every link they have in a new tab.

ive got football scores extension, various themes, and many more added to my firefox.

IE is like a n00b™ browser compared to it

One of the computers at the office was having strange problems in I.E. sending yahoo email (it could not send any).

Being a regular visitor at forum.myfreeforums.org, I was aware of firefox. I download firefox in a few minutes and had it running. Firefox browser was able to send yahoo email with no problems. I even visited Microsofts site to see if there might be an easy way to re-install I.E., and correct the problem, but there was no easy way that I could find.

I had been experiencing a bug in Fedex Power Ship, when I print a group of shipping labels, it would die during the print process, and I would have to take a long time to reprint each label one by one. I was guessing that this problem was caused by I.E. browser. I did my label printing from firefox browser, and, so far, no problems.

Of course, there is no reason why one cannot have several browsers on your computer, and use all of them. I have netscape i.e. opera and firefox on one computer.

I have learned so many useful things from admin here at forum.myfreeforum.org, and the various knowledgable members who post here.

I tried that one at first, didn't like it didn't seem to do what it says on the tin so to speak.

I now use this one

HashColouredTabs

Seems to be much better.

I looked at that, but does it not overwrite the icons for sites that actually have defined icons? It does not make this clear

The answer if I understand the question, which is not always the case with me is no.

For example I have my forum and this forum up at the moment and it gives them both the myfreefroum.org icon. I have three BBC news tabs open and they all have the icon. But when I go onto a non iconed site I get a colour and that colour remains the same for all pages I open for that URL. If I open another site with no icon I get a different colour and that colour remains the same for all pages I open for that URL.

That reply reminds of SGTS reply to the libel thread in the owners forum, if you understand that I will be amazed.

Perfectly clear and i will now install it

thanks
