Editing a Post and the use of BBcodes

Figured I would just move right along to my next problem if no one minds. ^.^

PLEASE ENTER THE FOLLOWING>>>>

If you are asking a template related question, what is the name of the template:

Please indicate keywords you have searched on: Editing, bbcodes, BBcodes, editing posts, bbcodes and editing, ect.

Now ask your question in clear English without "txt" speak>>>>

Through just normal checking over the forum I discovered that when I edit someone's post I can not use bbcodes in the edit. Now I tested around with it and bbcodes still work when posting/replying, as do the bbcode buttons when posting and replying. I can also edit MY own posts and insert bbcodes into them.

BUT, when I edit another user's post I can not use a bbcode it only appears as the code around the message.

Examples
Code:
This post is edited by an admin
[b]This text should be bold but only has the bold codes around it and does not appear in bold[/b]
[video]This video link should appear as an embeded video but only appears as a link with video codes around it[/video]

Anyone know why this is happening? Like I said I didn't do any editing to anything I only just noticed this recently that I couldn't use bbcodes while editing I have no idea how long it has been this way.
admin (no pm's please)

Well I have just edited your posted and bolded bbcode, so this is not a general issue.

So what is special about the post you are dealing with. You know that bbcodes will NOT work in a code block? as the code block is there to allow code to be shown.
I'm_Hackin'_Bored!

I know they don't work in a code block. That is why I used a code block to show you my problem. When I actually edit a post, (not a code block) I only see the code's around the post when editing someone else's post.

Like you said it must not be a general issue since you were able to edit.

So any idea's how this has occured with me?
I'm_Hackin'_Bored!

Sorry to double post. But I just discovered it's not the case for all post's. =/

For some reason it's specific to a user/thread. I can not use bbcodes in any post this specific user has posted in this specific thread.

I'm still very unsure as to why something so crazy has occured. There is nothing different or unusual about the user or this thread in any way. This user is a typical user, not an admin or moderator, no specific special priv.

Basically after poking around more it is only affecting one user's post in one thread. Either that or it's randomly working/not working.
But, I edited as many different users as I saw and in different threads but it's still the one thread that I fould has the issue and every post the user made in that thread can not be edited with bbcodes. My attempt was to use the [mod] bbcode since his posts are questionable to our rules. But I tried bold and many others and none work.

EDIT: Ok I found another topic with same issues... it's also coincidently the same user...

It DOES appear to randomly not work tho. =/ The pattern I found at first is very stretched now. The only constant is the user.
admin (no pm's please)

Has the user got bbcode disabled in their profile?
I'm_Hackin'_Bored!

Sigh... yes he does.

But, there is still an issue. The option seems to be backwards for the user. He successfully uses bbcodes with it off. I contacted him and had him test with me and with the feature on on his account his bbcodes show up as code. =/
admin (no pm's please)

You also need to check if the bbcodes are enabled at the individual post level.
I'm_Hackin'_Bored!

I assume that is the problem.

I was gonna ask about forcing bbcodes on for the purpose of being able to edit the [mod] into user's post's but forgot I can simply turn it on per post while I am editing.

Thanks for your help again.

what admin is refering to was, "is the thread you mention set to disable bbcodes e.g: Disable BBCode in this post" if the starting post has bbcodes disabled, all posts after wont have bbcodes posted either, so enabling it and possibly editing the post, should do the trick.

A little bit of a pain, but once someone has bbcodes disabled all of their posts will need to be edited for the bbcodes to then show, once it's enabled in their account.

Yea they were disabled, editing the post and enabling it did the trick. Hopefully now the user will understand how it works better. Thanks for all the help again.
