Doctype validation isnt working on our webpages

Seems we cant have a valid doctype for our webpages, I'm trying to correct all the errors I get on my site, but there is some I cant correct since the doctype cant be found...

No DOCTYPE found, and unknown root element. Aborting validation.

The DOCTYPE Declaration was not recognized or is missing. This probably means that the Formal Public Identifier contains a spelling error, or that the Declaration is not using correct syntax, or that your document is not using a DOCTYPE Declaration.

Without a DOCTYPE Declaration it is not possible to check the validity of your document. Since the document does not start with the root <html> element, automatic fallback to an HTML document type was not performed, and most of the validation process was aborted: only basic markup syntax was checked.

Learn how to add a doctype to your document from our FAQ, or use the validator's Document Type option to validate your document against a specific Document Type.

I did check the result for the homepage of MYFF, and I get the same result.

I think it has to do with a part of the coding we cant access... (look at the 1st part)

<div align="center">
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
<html xmlns="">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css" />
<meta name="description" content="Free Poker site! with loads of features! Poker, Fun forum, games, odds calculator, music and much much more! All Free! Free For All In !!!" />
<meta name="keywords" content="free,poker,games,forum,high,stakes,odds,calculator,music,royal,free,freeforallpoker,freeforall,omaha,toolbar,fun" />
<meta name="Author" content="" />

The first part isnt nowhere I can edit. an empty script and an empty div. Seems its something admin here as to work on.

Hope this can be fixed easily, thanks !!

could possibly have to do with the ad system, which does place things in locations that may seem abnormal.

This kind of system is pretty much prone to errors unless it is completely rewritten.  You have code written by multiple sources... this is the template base, the template edits (most templates are only edited version of the bases), the forum admin's edit to the new version of the templates, the base forum code, and all edits made to the base forum code (the ads and the many portals).... this just is not likely to work well, so having errors down to a reasonable number is the best you can do.

Problem is having missing doctype creates error that shouldnt be there.

like space coding (&nbsp;)

and self closings (/>)

Which I have loads on the webpages.
myff admin

I see DOCTYPE at the top where it should be, but it seems spread over two lines which is wrong, malformed.

tried the trick, no success...

see the resut I get when I try to validate my webpage

I get the same answer for MYFF homepage...

weird isnt it ??

***Edit: hmmmm... the link doesnt land in the proper page I wanted***
myff admin

I see you are doing the web page, so that might explain the aberration.

The ads on the web page probably do mess things up.

am I suppose to have ads from MYFF on my webpages ?? cuz I dont have any on my webpages.

So can it be fixed or should I give up on the subject ??
myff admin

try now.

Fixed !! Thanks Forum Index -> Web page/template Editing
