Please indicate keywords you have searched on:
Now ask your question in clear English without "txt" speak>>>>
How would I please go about Copyrighting my Logo and Slogan to prevent it from being used by other Forums?
As You can see from Our Logo, we have the Slogan 'Kick Back, Relax & Chat' But have now found another forum are using the same /or very similar slogan to advertise themselves.
So I'm Now thinking of Changing our Slogan so that we don't get conected and would Like to prevent it from being poached again in future.
How would I go about doing this Please?

None of us are solicitors here so take any advice with a pinch of salt. If you truly want to copyright such as these properly then I'd suggest getting in touch with someone who truly knows what they are talking about. The nature of the internet means you'd need someone who is trained in international copyright law.
If you are being copied verbatim from another MFF forum this could be grounds for their forum being suspended so post the details up in the T&C forum.

I really don't wish to get another Forum Into trouble.
They don't have the slogan actually on their Forum But in their description on one of the sites where they want people to vote for them.

Copyright is complex unfortunately. But in the case of a forum logo you have implicit copyright and no other forum can just nick your logo.
If you have given a logo you have designed to another forum on the other hand and you have given consent to its use as a logo, then you still retain copyright unless you explicitly hand over copyright, but you cannot then withdraw your consent to it being used.
e.g. right of use and copyright are different.

Well you must be doing something right if people are copying you
Oh, and I felt like making this, use it or not your choice

That's True I suppose - And I suppose, It's Much Like when artists poach Music, they change it slightly so they can get away with it, which is what they've done with the slogan,so Would get away with It I suppose.
I Like That, Thank You But I have No Intention of changing our Banner as It's becoming recognised now and I've worked the whole Forum colour scheme etc around It.
I'm just thinking of changing our Slogan.
I will Keep that though in case I think of a Future use for it, Thank You.

It is rather expensive, though you can usually pick up older versions on such as ebay quite cheaply. GIMP is a free version (though nowhere near the quality of Photoshop, but it is free).

I use CS3, I think the latest is CS4. (CS = Creative Suite).
Though Photoshop 7 has most features you'd really use. My version has fancy stuff that I don't even touch.

I'm no lawyer, but I'd be willing to bet money that you'd not win this case if you decided to take it to litigation.
The reason is something called the "reasonable use clause" - whereas you use 'Kick Back, Relax & Chat' as part of your logo and as your tag-line, they (the other site) do not (from what you've told us), indeed, they only use it "in their description on one of the sites where they want people to vote for them..."
If they were going head-to-head with you, and defiantly and overtly trying to compete by using either the same or as near as damn it the same form of words in their logo, then you'd have a case; but you can't copyright ever word in the English language merely on the off-chance that someone else might at some stage use a similar arrangement as yourself.
I sincerely hope you get it sorted Louise. Good luck with it.

As I said already in the thread, I feel you're probably correct as It's changed slightly from ours But as they Publicly offered to change things as a token Of Goodwill, It would be nice if they followed through on that !

Any changes have to be made by 1Awards, they have
been contacted with the new wording and we can't do any more than that.
Hopefully it will be changed soon
