BBcodes in Websites?I have a question for all you computer gurus(Martin, sgts, etc) Theoretically, since BBCode is a special implementation of HTML, couldn't it be used to build websites?

BBcode is not html. It is just another mark up language that a forum must translate into html.

I see. That's not what the FAQ's said.

That is the default phpbb faq, and rather poorly phrased. I suppose given that html is Hyper Text Markup Language, then BBCode is another Hyper Text Markup Language, but the wording in the FAQ is to my mind confusing.

The way I understood it is that HTML is a language and it can understand and translate and display BBCode. BBCode is a code that needs someone (HTML) to translate what it is saying.

not really. HTML is a markup language, for bbcode to be shown on a web page, some programmer needs to write a translater. hence phpbb has a translater.

Yeah, now that I think about it that FAQ Question was badly=worded. Is it true that HTML is not a computer language?
