I followed option 2 in the HowToDoIt and am getting your page does not exist, just like it says. Do I need to do option 1 as well?

Without an explicit link to what you did, I am not guessing what you mean by option1 or option2.
What I do know is that:
http://dns.myff.org
reports an ip address of 69.64.156.208 for arachnophiles.com and that address is nothing to do with us.
Nameservers are :
dns1.name-services.com - dns5.name-services.com
which are again neither the everydns.net nameservers or our own nameservers as recommended in our guides. _________________

This is from http://forum.myfreeforum.org/owndomain.html
| Code: | There are two ways of doing this,
Option1 - Set the domain name servers
In your registrars control panel change the nameservers to:
ns1.everydns.net
ns2.everydns.net
ns3.everydns.net
ns4.everydns.net
We cannot tell you exactly how to do this as domain control panels are not all the same.
Now you need to go to everydns.net and set up a free account. Within that free account you need to set up a domain, mydomain.com, and add the records in option 2, to that domain.
Option 2 - Set the DNS records
This step is either done in your registrars control panel if that is possible, or if you have followed option 1, it is done on your domain in your account at everydns, net.
You will need to set the following records.
name type address
www.mydomain.com A 1.2.3.4
mydomain.com A 1.2.3.4
We will tell you the actual address to use in place of 1.2.3.4 | I chose option 2 and set my domain to redirect to 64.38.5.250 which is what I got from pinging our site. Going to www.arachnophiles.com goes to the address you cited first, then gets redirected to 64.38.5.250

This is cut from http://forum.myfreeforum.org/owndomain.html
| Code: | The waiting game
These changes can still take up to 48 hours to be seen across the internet. So be patient. Sooner or later you will start to see your domain resolving to our servers. At this point you will not see your forum, but will see our missing/suspended forum page.
The final step
At this point you need to ask us to change this setting to your domain. When you have done this people will have problems logging on to the forum via your old forum link. This is because your forum sets cookies acording to where your forum believes it is. |
I set the domain to redirect and when I entered http://www.arachnophiles.com I was directed to your missing/suspended page just like the directions from http://forum.myfreeforum.org/owndomain.html said in the waiting game section, which then told me to request to have my forum mapped. Since the map did not work I changed from a redirect to "address" just like option 2 suggests in your how to do it | Code: | Option 2 - Set the DNS records
This step is either done in your registrars control panel if that is possible, or if you have followed option 1, it is done on your domain in your account at everydns, net.
You will need to set the following records.
name type address
www.mydomain.com A 1.2.3.4
mydomain.com A 1.2.3.4
We will tell you the actual address to use in place of 1.2.3.4 | I have changed from a redirect, which was taking me to the missing page, to an address dns record and am now getting a server timed out message. I just don't understand why it was working before just as the HowToDoIt suggested but is not working now and could not be mapped. I got to the Missing/suspended page before.

The dns test now shows your www. address is resolving to us, but not the basic arachnophiles.com address.
It has to be a problem with the nameserver records you have set. Can you post a screenshot of your settings? _________________

I am assuming by basic address you mean http://arachnophiles.com
I just changed the www record that was already in there. I did not think that the basic address was necessary. Not sure if I need to change the * record which was different than my primary dns so I did not want to mess with that.
