Well over 10% of the posts on this forum have now been removed with more to go.

The aim of the support forum is after all to support people and 1000's of posts titled:

"help", "stuck","admin", "is it possible", "would you please" or even "template", "logo", "permissions" are no use to anyone trying to find answers from the existing posts.

It is notable some people have lost over half their posts simply because they can never be bothered to put some thought into the topic subject they post.

So over 10,000 posts from such badly titled threads are now scrapped.

I don't know about other people but I know I am personally much more inclined to respond to an intelligently titled thread than I am to a 'help' etc thread.

main reason I know they'll end up deleted anyway

So it makes a lot of sense to make your titles reflect the content, more so as it is more likely to attract the people that can help better...eg if you are asking for html help I am of no use to you (yet - got a course starting in October), but other people who do know html are more likely to respond to your thread if it has 'html' in the title.

Basically, just use your common sense and things will go much more smoothly for your request  Wink

Makes perfect sense to me.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've searched and ended up with long lists of such titled topics, then I'm left wondering which one "may" be useful, so the search takes twice as long.

Good Work!

I might also add that there will be innocent victims, as we develop and change the system some topics become obsolete or in the way. e.g. a portal bug was reported today, it is now fixed and so not really relevant any more.

I am trying to be fair in this, it would for example be very easy to remove every report of a glitch on the system in the last three years, but whilst some pointless duplication has been removed I don't see it as right to wipe out our track record, which is in fact very good.

Just trimmed out a whole lot of useless posts on KARMA including I might add one by myself tracking the development of the feature.

Several went when the post was plain awkward about providing requested information

What remains should track through all the issue people have, which frankly is always a failure to be exactingly precise when following Symons guides.

If anyone feels like playing with the forum search at the top, then please do so and report any searches that come up with a mass of useless results.

There are still 4923 topics in phpbb2 support

Quite a lot more gone, loads of more those useless appendages in subjects, "question" ,"problem" etc have been a focus. You can kind of take it as read that if people are posting on a support forum they have a "problem" and a "question"
