All I can really say is good grief

That is just one month since 3.03 and a mere week since we were able to get 3.03 live. Which we have then had to bug fix ourselves.

Taking three weeks to install a release was our slowest effort yet, partially as there was a lot to do and partially as things have been very busy here, but I imagine some people are slower still and still on 3.02 and finding they have two releases stacked up

oh dear, I'm starting to think final release should've been delayed until Jan, alot of issues would've been sorted giving less hassle, as this is now something I have to deal with for my left 4 dead clan as the founder decided to go with bb3, which was against my wishes to stay on bb2 due to better addons and stability.

I really want to swear for that, but ****

If you have added any "hacks" updating  aphpbb3 forum is a job for a programmer. Of course that in part is because they missed the opportunity to make phpbb3 component driven
It would have been so easy in phpbb3 to do something like Joomla does or even something like our own XACTIONS thing. e.g. Let people define components that can register themselves to be called at all significant stages of forum processing. It would remove almost all the need for people to actually modify the core phpbb3 code.
As I say Joomla works like that, and as a result my heavily customized downsizer.net site has almost no modifications to Joomla core code.
If phpbb3 was someones first effort then it might be forgiven, but phpbb3 was meant to be a leap forward in forums, so why duplicate the worst parts of phpbb2?

Small compared to phpbb3.03.

Have you got hacks installed? If not the process is much easier.

Good thing I've not added any and to be quite honest I'll refuse until it hits the 3.1 phase and that is my main reason for loving phpfusion, for it's panels and infusions, never have to edit a single bit of the core files

Seems like phpbb3.04 has about half the file changes that 3.03 did. That is still a heck of a lot though.

Yup i recieved an email about this release and was shocked to see some bug fixes to the last update, this is really not how phpbb3 should have been a rushed release in my opinion just to stay with the compatition, should have waited till it was more stable and then released it they wouldn't have lost out much with the compation since a lot of people would have still tested phpbb3 out after its final release.

As I have said my considered opinion is that phpbb3 is totally wrong anyway.

Total failure to address the real problems with phpbb2 and chronic feature bloat that did not even add especially good features and which succeeded only in adding mind boggling complexity to the administration

you don't have to do a thing, admin installs all the updates, so forum owners need to only concentrate on their forums

That's great,
this forum hosting service is brilliant, I haven't discovered a single flaw and the support is reliable and fast

Let's cross fingers here. Ever since phpbb3 came out our users have complained quite rightly that one of the obvious options we implement in phpbb2 with our own custom profile fields is missing from the phpbb3 system    We have always had to say that there is not a lot we can do about this as surely they will have to figure that this is a problem and implement their own improvement.
As of phpbb3.04 I see that a change in the profile field options is happening. Trouble is at this point as I am simply implementing the changes file by file I confess I an not totally sure it is the needed change, but I cannot see what else it would be so I am hopeful.

Yep, yet to actually work through all the database changes, as there is a heck of a lot for a mere month   but there is a new flag on profile fields that looks like it will do the business at last.
