Surely they must feel silly at yelling "This doesn't work" when the guides have been used on countless forums, which proves that they do. _________________ My Site:

1) No one is forcing people to do the fancy stuff.
2) Symon has written really quite excellent guides.
3) The answers are also on this forum a dozen times over.
4) For the simple stuff, we are actually a little easier than standard phpbb2, as we have stripped a few pointless and confusing things from the admin panel, and rearranged things in an easier order, with a guide actually on screen for the basics.
5) People work hard here to support people, so long as they follow the basic point 1 of the check list.
With all that I can still understand there is a learning curve, but there is rarely an excuse to complain, let alone get abusive. _________________

With me being what I feel is a great example of someone who was taken on the learning curve with html and powered through with a fair amount of success, I must point out that we are all different and this sort of learning can vary in how easy you take to it, I took to it very quickly as I always had an interest in building my knowledge of pc's and not just with how to use one.
I came here having practically no knowledge of html, let alone web design. Now a year and a half later I'm building templates and designing pages
Some things people don't realise why we ask for them are:
a link = with a link we can see the problem for the error your seeking help to correct.
code from a certain file = this in our eyes can be a point where someone may get well and truly lost, so occasionally we may make the alterations or with the code provided we can do a mini guide(template specific) in more detail on that particular part.
patience = the most important thing we expect, as we are here helping you, support here is practically 24 with the help of members, there have been occasions where someone has gone unanswered for 30mins and has started screaming, this was for something totally trivial and unimportant with regards to running a forum, it could've waited for a little while longer as it was a cosmetic that forums don't need, but occasionally use to enhance the forums features. _________________ CALM TIME: When calm time is called, all posters in a topic must take time out to calm down.

A link is the most basic of things and the request for it is very clear.
If people cannot be bothered to read that act on it, even if they have to ask what it means, then they are just not putting the effort into getting support that is needed if they are going to be helped.
These days I won't answer any question from a new comer without the link. I think they need to get the message quickly. It will help everyone in the long run, even now there are plenty of threads that are way too long, as the link has not been given and it would have helped to have it. _________________

I was the same as Nick...A little over a year ago, my little boy had to show me how to shut down my PC...lol.. but because i have enjoyed learning, this place has been great for me and I am now really proud of how the Chillpill Looks.
I think i went through my biggest learning curve when installing the Online/Offline facility...for a while, it just wouldn't sink and instead of just the tiny piece of code, i kept installing what was meant to be the example but as soon as that was pointed out to me, all the other bits made sense...this place is so full of knowledge, you just need patience and realise that it's not a case of "This doesn't work" but more a case of "I don't understand"...which is nothing to be ashamed of! _________________ My Site:
